Picking a suitcase is extremely hard for me. I’ve gone through a number of carry on suitcases that got ripped apart when traveling, everything from broken zippers to huge stains to tears in the suitcase itself—my underwear could have flown out! Samsonite Carry on DK3 Spinner 21 is my newest trial.
Recently, I was looking for a new carry-on suitcase and decided to try the AWAY travel carry-on, which is hard-shelled and has many other features. It is very pricy for a college student, but they had a 100-day guarantee and so I tried it. Truly, I wanted to love the suitcase. It was lightweight, slim, and striking, but I really needed a front pocket for my liquids to be easily accessible and a little more space.
Loved it over all and would recommend it to anyone traveling for business or who can pack lighter than me,
but I had to send it back and look for a carry-on with a pocket on the front, and 360 degree wheels (so much easier on my back). With those things in mind it immediately eliminated any hard shell carry-ons and left me with soft shell, aka the Samsonite Carry on DK3 Spinner 21.
I of course went to Amazon to read reviews and narrow everything down, but the true test would come when I actually go it in the mail and could test out the wheels. With my Amazon Prime and after much deliberation chose the Samsonite Carry on DK3 Spinner 21 in the color Charcoal and my Amazon Prime had it at my step within two days. Taking it out of the package I was skeptical due to my last carry-on purchase off of Amazon.
The wheels touched the floor and moved like butter. I literally started dancing with my suitcase because I could! The suitcase moved smoothly in 360 degrees that I could dance the night away, but my cat started staring so I stopped.
The quality of the fabric was spot on and the zippers did not feel cheap in the slightest. Opening up the main compartment it actually looked like it had enough room to go away with me for the weekend and maybe even buy something if I wanted.
Comply with Airlines
According to the reviews it should comply with domestic airlines and some international, but there are so many airlines and they are all slightly different in what they allow. Not to mention that if you ever travel on a small plane not even my AWAY travel carry-on would fit in the overhead and had to be checked at the gate and then returned post flight. This wasn’t a problem for me but just to let you know that sometimes the plane is just SMALL.
Since I love this carry-on so much, I decided to buy the Samsonite DK3 Spinner 25 as well. Since I have a trip coming up that just won’t fit in a carry-on, and I am going somewhere you do not want to skimp on packing. Stick around to find out where that destination is.
The 25” moves just as smoothly as the 21” carry-on and I love that they are matching. This way I now have the choice for a carry-on sized trip or a medium sized trip.
